Watercolor

Watercolor painting techniques involve the use of pigments that are suspended within a water soluble material. This means that they are mixed with water in order to extend the surface areas they may cover. These surface options are traditionally paper. Wood and fabric are a few other options, among others.

The technique of watercolor is hypothesized to have existed long before recorded history. However, today's records are limited by the materials that have lasted through time. For this reason, it is primarily dated back to the manuscript painting of Ancient Egypt.

Watercolor paint brushes are created in several different forms. These include rounds, filberts, flats, mops, and riggers. The different brush shapes are designed to accomplish different tasks with the medium.
